Trinidad is surrounded by mountains with green landscapes and fertile valleys. The flora and its environment is mainly marked by forests of conifers such as pines, eucalyptus, ceibas, oaks, weeping willows, albrojos and framboyans, although its various vegetal formations range from wild orchids, the yellow nelumbo, coffee and mariposas (National flower of Cuba) to exotic fern trees. The endemism level is of 16% in the mountain zone.
