  Flora

Vegetation in coastal sectors is mostly that of mangrove-tree communities, alternated with semi-natural vegetation in coastal heaths and secondary herbal communities. There are also great sectors of sub-perennially foliated woods with fluctuating humidity. By the mouth of river Jatibonico del Norte, vegetation is mostly cultural, alternated with natural prairie vegetation and crops. There is plenty of agricultural land with pasture focuses and secondary vegetation.
