It is one of the singularest places in Cuba, because in the territory coexist several types of swamp ecosystems, fairly or little modified by the man's action. And it favors a high level of humidity in the almost tropical temperatures that shows the environment during almost the whole year. Experts have noticed that the Zapata Swamp could lose through the years its environmental meaning of going deeply into the climatic changes in the planet. That region of Matanzas is a reserve of the biosphere and classifies among the most vulnerable of Cuba to the climatic change, altering the cycle of the life in those places with a high natural value and tourist attraction.
