  Flora

Around the upper basin of Canímar river the vegetation is mostly cultural with some pasture lands and secondary vegetation. Two exceptions are the hills of El Grillo, in which slopes grows a typical hummock vegetation, and El Jacán, having a semi-natural vegetation of woods and heaths over serpentine rocks that has been proposed to be a protected area of botanical interest. In the valleys, there is abundance sugarcane and minor fruit.
