Soroa's fauna is mainly characterized by its bird population, serving as the habitat for more than 82 singing and beautiful feather species. It is worth-mentioning the great amount of endemic bird species that inhabit this reserve. Among them we find the Tocororo or Cuban Trogon (Priotelus temnurus), Cuba's national bird; the tiny Zunzún or Bee Hummingbird (Chlorostilbon ricordii); the Carta Cuba or Cuban Tody (Todus multicolor); and the Tomeguín del Pinar or Cuban Grassquit (Tiaris canora). The beautiful landscapes around Soroa are also the habitat of hutias, squirrels, wild pigs and bovines, and even deer in the most isolated areas.
